2003 VW Jetta TDI OBD2 Code P0224: What Does It Mean and Is It Related to Glow Plugs?

Model: VW Jetta 2003 TDI Fault Code: P0224 Posted: 2007-06-21 17:46

Hello everyone, this is my first post. I recently had my 2003 Volkswagen Jetta TDI vehicle scanned, and the diagnostic tool returned a code P0224 (not 17058 — which appears to be an invalid or misentered OBD-II code). The engine light has come on as a result. I'm not sure what P0224 specifically means, but I suspect it might be related to the glow plug system. Could anyone clarify what this code indicates and whether it's connected to the glow plugs or another component? Additional details: This is a 2003 VW Jetta TDI with a diesel engine, so any insights on common issues in that model year would be greatly appreciated.

Could you clarify who performed the scan and what diagnostic tool they used? This helps ensure accuracy of the code reading.

The P0224 code is a standard OBD-II fault code that refers to an issue with the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) circuit. It indicates a problem with either the sensor or its electrical connection, not directly related to glow plugs. However, since your vehicle is a 2003 Jetta TDI, it's important to confirm whether this code was correctly interpreted — especially because '17058' is not a valid OBD-II code. Double-check that you entered the correct code during scanning. If the scan tool showed P0224, that’s the actual relevant code; if it listed 17058, it may be an error or misreading.
