P1514 Fault Code: Airflow to TP Sensor Correlation High (SES) - Common in Vehicles After MAF Tuning

Model: Unknown Fault Code: P1514 Posted: 2006-11-08 19:42

I recently encountered fault code P1514: 'Airflow to TP Sensor Correlation High' under SES (Service Engine Soon) mode. This issue appeared only after I performed a MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor edit via software flashing. Prior to the modification, my vehicle did not show this error. Given that the fault emerged post-tuning, I suspect a correlation between the modified airflow readings and the throttle position (TP) sensor data. The P1514 code indicates that the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) detected an inconsistency in airflow measurements compared to the throttle position sensor input. This is typically flagged when the MAF sensor's output does not align with the expected airflow based on throttle position, which can happen during custom tuning or modifications. I am seeking clarification on this code—what exactly it means technically, and whether it's a known issue in vehicles that have undergone MAF edits.

If anyone can identify the vehicle make, model, engine size, or year, please share. This information would help determine if P1514 is commonly reported in specific models after MAF sensor tuning.

Given that this fault appeared only after a MAF edit, it's highly likely the issue stems from incorrect airflow calibration. The PCM may be detecting mismatched data between the MAF and TP sensor inputs—this is a known risk in modified tuning setups.
