2000 Chevrolet 1500 5.7L: P0751 Transmission Code After Using Hypertech Programmer - Safe to Ignore or Fix?

Model: unknown Fault Code: P0751 Posted: 2006-08-05 07:11

I own a 2000 Chevrolet 1500 with a 5.7L engine, less than 65,000 miles. I recently installed a Hypertech programmer and adjusted shift points to improve performance at lower speeds, aiming for more power. Since then, the vehicle has triggered a P0751 diagnostic code — indicating a 'Shift Solenoid A Performance or Stuck Off' issue. What does this mean? Could it cause long-term transmission damage if left unaddressed? I have since reverted all modifications back to stock settings and reset the system. The code has cleared, but I haven't driven over 55 mph on highways yet. Should I wait and monitor further, or is there a risk of underlying transmission issues? Are other users experiencing similar problems with aftermarket programmers like Hypertech? Any insights or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Note: This issue occurs specifically after using the programmer; no other symptoms (like gear slipping or rough shifts) have been reported during normal driving.
