1999 Honda Integra V6 P0340 and P0385 Codes: Missing Camshaft/Crankshaft Sensor Bolts from Silver Box

Model: unknown Fault Code: P0340 Posted: 2011-06-20 17:49

I'm currently troubleshooting a 1999 Honda Integra V6 (VIN 8th digit is H). My son-in-law attempted to replace the alternator but became confused during the process and ended up tearing it apart. After calling me for help, I completed the replacement and reassembled everything—except for two missing spare bolts. These bolts were reportedly taken from a silver box: one is approximately 3 inches long with a 10mm head, and the other is about 1 inch long with a 或 10mm head. The vehicle now displays two diagnostic trouble codes: P0340 and P0385. Based on his description, I suspect these bolts belong to a combined camshaft and crankshaft position sensor assembly. However, despite thoroughly inspecting the engine bay, I cannot locate this component or the missing bolts. I'm seeking advice from experienced users—does anyone know where to look for this sensor unit or if there's a known location for these specific bolts on a 1999 Honda Integra V6? Any insights would be greatly appreciated before sending it back to a mechanic.

No, it's not okay—just like the original post. My son-in-law was replacing the alternator and ended up removing two bolts from a silver box. One bolt is about 3 inches long with a 10mm head; the other is approximately 1 inch long with a 10mm head. I believe these belong to a combined camshaft and crankshaft position sensor assembly. I've searched thoroughly throughout the engine compartment but can't find it. Given your experience, you might have insight into where this component should be located or if there's a known replacement or mounting location for these bolts on a 1999 Honda Integra V6. Any tips would be very helpful.
