2017 Chrysler Trans Am 5.7L Engine P0335 and P0336 Fault - Crankshaft Position Sensor Issues

Model: Trans Am Fault Code: P0335 Posted: 2018-10-17 14:55

I own a 2017 Chrysler Trans Am with a 5.7L V8 engine. The check engine light activates and displays both fault codes P0335 and P0336. I recently replaced the crank position sensor (CKP) located behind the crankshaft pulley. After clearing the codes, they reappear. The vehicle starts with slight difficulty at times but does not stall or shut off and drives normally under normal conditions. I'm seeking advice on possible causes or next steps to resolve these persistent codes. Any insights from owners of similar vehicles would be greatly appreciated.

Did you install the new crank position sensor (CKP) from a dealership or an aftermarket brand? Additionally, please verify the integrity of the wiring harness, connectors, and electrical circuit. A thorough inspection of these components is essential, as poor connections can trigger P0335. Refer to reliable diagnostic resources for further guidance on code P0335.

Hello! Code P0335 typically points to the crankshaft position sensor (CKP), but code P0336 — Crankshaft Position Sensor Range/Performance — is more concerning and suggests a deeper issue. This code indicates potential problems with sensor accuracy or signal performance, which may point to faulty wiring, connector corrosion, or even a defective sensor. Given that both codes persist after replacement, further diagnostics are required to identify the root cause.
