Toyota IQ 2010 P2195 Fault: O2 Sensor Warning & Dashboard Lights - Diagnosis and Warranty Coverage

Model: Toyota IQ Fault Code: P2195 Posted: 2015-10-22 05:20

Hello, My 2010 Toyota IQ (UK model) has recently started displaying multiple dashboard warnings, including the engine management light, VSC/Trac Control light, and seat belt warning light. A diagnostic reader shows fault code P21905, which relates to the oxygen (O2) sensor — commonly referred to as an air/fuel ratio sensor in Toyota vehicles. The car has covered less than 20,000 miles and has maintained a full service history with Toyota. I have owned it for three years and it is equipped with the standard 1.3L 3-cylinder engine. I have cleared the P2195 code using a diagnostic tool, but the warning lights reappeared the next day. The engine runs normally under all conditions. This raises my concern — why are so many system warnings appearing for what seems like one underlying issue? Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm particularly curious about whether this fault is covered under the remaining 4 months of my 5-year Toyota warranty. Thanks in advance for your help.

P2195 indicates an issue with the oxygen sensor's signal voltage, not necessarily a failed part. A diagnostic scanner only reports data — it doesn't confirm failure. Many systems (like VSC and TC) require professional-grade tools to retrieve full fault codes. Your current reader might not access all subsystems. Always check for additional hidden codes before assuming one issue is causing multiple warnings.

Thanks for the clarification! I just realized that the VSC/TC warning light came on when I accidentally pressed the VSC button the day before — it briefly flashed 'OFF' and then returned. After pressing the button again, all lights went off temporarily. However, they reappeared the next day. Since I have about 4 months of warranty left under my 5-year Toyota coverage, I'm wondering whether this specific fault is covered and what repair options are available.

Hi — did you ever resolve the VSC or engine management light issues? My 2013 Toyota IQ 1.3 has been in and out of the garage repeatedly. The O2 sensor code keeps reappearing, even after replacement. It seems to trigger specifically when driving on motorways. While it stays off during city driving, as soon as I accelerate slightly, the warning returns. This behavior suggests a possible issue with fuel mixture or sensor calibration under load.
