Bank 2 Sensor 2 Fault in 2004 Chevrolet Silverado: Diagnosing and Fixing Low Knock Sensor Input

Model: Silverado Fault Code: P2177 Posted: 2015-05-14 18:55

The check engine light came on in my 2004 Chevrolet Silverado, and the initial diagnostic indicated a faulty knock sensor #2. I took it to a trusted mechanic who performed a second scan and found both a bad knock sensor and a malfunctioning Bank 2 Sensor 2 O2 sensor. We replaced both the knock sensor and its wiring harness, and after clearing the codes, the engine light went off for the day. However, the next day the check engine light returned, now showing a 'low knock sensor input' fault. Given that we already replaced the knock sensor, I'm wondering if a faulty O2 sensor could be contributing to this reading or interfering with the knock sensor signal. Any insight into how these sensors interact in diagnosing engine misfires or knock events would be greatly appreciated.
