2004 Silverado 2500 P0802 Code: No Gear Indicator, Reverse Light Failure, Park Lock Issue

Model: Silverado 2500 Fault Code: P0802 Posted: 2019-12-18 14:42

I own a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 with a 6.6L Duramax engine and Allison transmission. The transmission gear indicator is not functioning properly—there's no display showing the current gear. Additionally, the reverse light does not illuminate, and the door locks fail to engage or disengage when the truck is placed in park. A diagnostic scan reveals fault code P0802. Has anyone else encountered this issue? What were the specific repairs that resolved it? Any insights into potential transmission sensor or control module problems would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 2005 Silverado with an 8.1L V8 and 4x4, experiencing the same symptoms. My truck shows both P0802 and P0846 codes, and it's currently in limp mode—only allowing third gear. The vehicle has 172,000 miles on the odometer. I suspect a faulty transmission shift position sensor or wiring issue in the control module.
