2006 Scion XB P0010 Fault Code: Causes, Diagnosis & Repair Steps
Hi everyone, I recently encountered a P0010 OBD2 fault code on my 2006 Scion XB. I've already replaced the water pump and alternator, during which I unbolted the passenger-side motor mount to clear space for the pump installation. I'm concerned that I may have accidentally disconnected or damaged a component—particularly the oil control valve (OCV) or its wiring—during this process. The P0010 code typically relates to an issue with the variable valve timing system, often linked to the OCV actuator. Does anyone know of reliable YouTube tutorials that show how to diagnose and fix the P0010 code on a 2006 Scion XB? Any advice or troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help!
Check the alternator area—there's a possibility the oil control valve (OCV) actuator has come loose or been unplugged. The OCV is commonly involved in P0010 faults on Scion XB models, especially after mechanical work near the engine mount.
