Scenic 04 1.9 Dci Fuel Consumption Issue with OBD Codes P0409 and P0487

I own a Scenic 2004 1.9 Dci diesel model. Recently, I encountered OBD error codes P0409 and P048-7 related to the EGR valve. This was accompanied by a noticeable increase in fuel consumption—approximately 10 liters per 100 kilometers in urban driving conditions. A mechanic cleaned the EGR valve, and after that, the EGR-related symptoms disappeared. However, I still experience higher-than-normal fuel consumption. This issue has recurred before—I had the same problem a year ago, and after cleaning the EGR valve, fuel efficiency returned to normal at that time. My question is: Is this behavior typical? What other steps can I take to resolve it? Thank you for your insights.
