Model: Renault Clio 1.4 16v Fault Code: P0500 Posted: 2015-03-15 05:38

Hello everyone, I'm experiencing a P0500 fault code on my Renault Clio 1.4 16V. The symptoms include an unreliable speedometer reading and the vehicle's RPM limiter appearing to be reduced. When I start the car, the check engine light illuminates. What steps should I take to diagnose and fix this issue? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Check the wiring harness and electrical circuit connected to the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS), as well as inspect the sensor itself for damage or malfunction.

Where is the VSS located? Thanks! Is it in a specific position on the vehicle?

I don't have a service manual for your Renault Clio model, but typically the Vehicle Speed Sensor is located at the rear of the transmission. You might find a repair manual at your local library or online—always verify the circuit before replacing the sensor.
