Nissan Pathfinder 3.5L P1140 and P1320 Codes: Intake Valve Timing Sensor & Ignition Signal Issues

Model: Pathfinder Fault Code: P1140 Posted: 2017-03-24 20:11

I recently replaced both camshaft position sensors on my Nissan Pathfinder 3.5L, but the vehicle is still showing a persistent P1140 code (Intake Valve Timing Control Position Sensor Circuit) and a new P1320 code (Ignition Signal Circuit Malfunction). Previously, I experienced a misfire in cylinder 6, which disappeared after replacing the coil pack—this issue has since resolved. A P0171 code (Rich Fuel Mix) appeared earlier but has not returned after resetting the fault codes following sensor and coil replacements. I used aftermarket camshaft sensors instead of OEM parts. Could this be causing the persistent P1140 and P1320 faults? Is there a way to verify whether the sensors are functioning correctly? So far, I haven't noticed any drivability symptoms, but I've only driven the vehicle for a short distance. Any insights or diagnostic steps would be greatly appreciated.

P1140 - INTAKE VALVE TIMING CONTROL POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT. Did you check the wiring harness, specifically the B1 circuit on the right side? P1320 - IGNITION SIGNAL CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION. Check the wiring connection at cylinder 6's coil pack to ensure proper signal transmission. For reliable performance, especially in Nissan vehicles, using OEM parts like a genuine coil pack is recommended.
