P0174 Code and Rough Idle in 1994 Ford Cougar XR-7 with V8 Engine
Hi! I'm experiencing a P0174 diagnostic trouble code (system too lean on bank 2) on my brother's 1994 Ford Cougar XR-7 equipped with the large V8 engine. This issue is accompanied by rough idle when stopping at intersections with the transmission in gear, while highway driving appears normal. I've already replaced the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor, but the problem persists. After reviewing this forum, vacuum leaks are suspected as a potential cause. However, vacuum leaks can occur in many locations on large engines like this one. I've inspected the air intake hose and all intake hose clamps, and they appear to be secure. Are there specific areas on this 1994 Ford Cougar V8 engine that are more prone to vacuum leaks? Are there any other possible causes for the P0174 code besides vacuum leaks? Any insights or troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated!
Fuel injector leaks can be a common cause. Also check the DPFE sensor and EGR valve for issues.
