Nissan Sentra 2000 P0155 Fault: Oxygen Sensor Bank 2 Sensor 1 Location and Replacement Guide

Model: Nissan Sentra 2000 Fault Code: P0155 Posted: 2014-04-17 14:15

Hello everyone, I'm currently dealing with a Nissan Sentra 2000 (1.8L engine) and have recently received the OBD2 diagnostic code P0155. After researching, I understand that this code indicates a fault with the oxygen sensor in Bank 2, Sensor 1. However, I'm confused because my car has only two oxygen sensors — one located near the radiator on the left side and another on the right side. I need clarification: which of these is the correct Bank 2 Sensor 1? And more importantly, should I replace it or investigate further? I've checked the vehicle's engine configuration, and it's a straight-4 cylinder engine. I'm aware that in most 4-cylinder engines, there isn't a 'Bank 2' as such — but since this code specifically references Bank 2, I want to confirm whether my interpretation is correct or if there might be an error in the diagnosis. Could someone please clarify where exactly the Bank 2 Sensor 1 is located on a Nissan Sentra 2000 and what steps I should take next? Thanks in advance for your help.

You're right to question this — the P0155 code refers to the front oxygen sensor on Bank 2. However, the Nissan Sentra 2000 (1.8L inline-4) does not have a 'Bank 2' in standard configuration. Most 4-cylinder engines like this one only have one bank of cylinders, meaning there is no such thing as Bank 2. This suggests that either the code was misread or the vehicle has been modified with additional engine components. Please double-check your OBD2 scanner reading and ensure it's not a misdiagnosis or a code from another system.
