Nissan Murano 2010 P0011 Fault: Intermittent Code After Oil Change and Clearing

Model: Nissan Murano Fault Code: P0011 Posted: 2019-06-30 08:28

Hello everyone, I own a 2010 Nissan Murano and recently encountered the P0011 diagnostic trouble code (DTC), which is associated with the variable valve timing solenoid. The SES light was on, showing both Permanent, Confirmed, and Pending instances of P0011. After changing the engine oil and clearing the codes, the permanent P0011 disappeared after driving for most of the day — I celebrated thinking the issue had been resolved. However, after further driving, a pending P0011 reappeared. I cleared it again, and since then, no codes have shown up. My current theory is that old oil residue may have gummed up the valve timing solenoid, causing intermittent sticking. The fact that the code clears during operation suggests the issue might be temporary or related to oil quality. Does anyone else experience this with their 2010 Nissan Murano? What do you recommend — such as using an oil treatment like Rislone, or replacing the solenoid? Thanks for your insights!

That's a plausible explanation. Consider trying an oil additive like Rislone to dissolve deposits, or replace the valve timing solenoid if the issue persists. A clean solenoid can often resolve intermittent P0010/P0011 issues in older Nissan Murano models.
