Nissan Frontier 2005 4.0L - P0340 and C1130 Codes After Clutch Replacement

Model: Nissan Frontier 2005 4.0 Fault Code: C1130 Posted: 2016-09-24 12:46

I recently replaced the clutch on my 2005 Nissan Frontier 4.0L engine, after which I started receiving trouble codes P0340 and C1130. I replaced the camshaft position sensor, but the issue persists. When cranking the engine, it only reaches 1500 RPM. However, when I disconnect the camshaft position sensor, the engine starts fine and cranks normally—though it's difficult to turn over with the sensor connected. The engine starts successfully with the sensor attached, but performance is severely limited at idle and under load. Could the clutch replacement have affected the camshaft or crankshaft sensor circuits? Any insight into how these codes relate to mechanical work on the transmission or drivetrain would be greatly appreciated.

Removing the clutch during maintenance may have inadvertently affected the camshaft or crankshaft sensor wiring harnesses or their electrical connections. BBBind.com provides detailed schematics for the cam/crank sensor circuits to the ECM, which can help diagnose continuity and grounding issues. Check if any other trouble codes are present besides P0340—especially those related to camshaft or crankshaft position systems. Also, please confirm exactly which camshaft sensor you replaced (e.g., front or rear) to ensure proper diagnosis and repair.
