Nissan Altima 2.5L P1065 Fault: Plug Coil Burning After Head Gasket Replacement

Model: Nissan Altima Fault Code: P1065 Posted: 2018-12-26 08:12

Hello, I own a 2004-2005 Nissan Altima 2.5L and recently experienced a serious issue after replacing the head gasket. Following the replacement, my vehicle began to exhibit unusual behavior — it suddenly stalled. I contacted a mechanic who diagnosed a 'brainbox' issue and identified fault code P1065 indicating burning of plug coil 2. The car now shows symptoms where starting is possible when the starter sensor is disconnected, but it fails to engage the engine light or start properly once the sensor is reconnected. A local electrician has suggested this is a 'brainbox' (ECU) problem. I have also been advised that fault codes P106 or P1611 are present in the system. I'm seeking advice on whether this could be related to wiring, ECU malfunction, or an error triggered by improper head gasket replacement. Any insights or solutions for a 2004-2005 Nissan Altima with P1065 and P1611 codes would be greatly appreciated.

What model year? Knowing the exact year helps pinpoint potential causes. A wiring issue is common in these models — consider visiting a certified Nissan dealer for diagnostics.

Model: 2005 Nissan Altima with 4-cylinder. The current issue is that when the starting sensor is disconnected, the car starts but does not illuminate the race light; when reconnected, it fails to start. An electrician has diagnosed this as a 'brainbox' (ECU) problem.
