P0453 OBD2 Code on 2001 Ford Mustang V6 3.8L: Fuel Leak and Check Engine Light After Fuel Pump Replacement
I recently replaced the fuel pump in my 2001 Ford Mustang V6 3.8L engine. After installing the new pump, I started the car and shortly afterward the check engine light illuminated. The diagnostic tool revealed a P0453 code, indicating a high input sensor reading for the evaporative emission control system. While driving, I noticed a gasoline odor, and upon inspection, found fuel leaking from around the rubber seal where the fuel line connects to the fuel tank. This fuel line is the one that feeds gas into the tank. My question is: could this leak be directly causing the P0453 code? What steps should I take to resolve both the leak and the check engine light issue?
