Mondeo ST200 OBD2 Codes P1518 U2098 P07E0 P0100 - Persistent Faults and Engine Knock at High RPM
Hi everyone, I own a Mondeo ST200 V6 Duratec Xredg, and over the past couple of weeks I've noticed a faint knocking or pinking sound during specific points of acceleration. This noise only occurs when the engine has reached its normal operating temperature. To diagnose the issue, I used an OBD2 scanner tool (Universal CAR OBD2-EOBD CAN Fault Code Reader Scanner Diagnostic Tool D90-00) purchased from eBay. The device consistently detects four fault codes even after they are cleared: - P1518: Known to relate to engine control module communication issues. - U2098: Indicates a communication failure between the vehicle's ECUs, specifically related to the transmission or body control modules. - P07E0: Points to a problem with the transmission control system, often linked to a faulty sensor or internal transmission issue. - P0100: Refers to a malfunction in the mass airflow sensor, which can lead to incorrect air-fuel mixture calculations. The vehicle shows no oil leaks and remains within a stable temperature range of 85–90°C. No overheating has been observed. I'm seeking advice on how to interpret these codes, especially U2098 and P07E0, and whether they are directly related to the knocking sound I hear during acceleration. Any insights or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
