2002 Chevrolet Malibu 3.1L Engine P1361 Fault: What Component Needs Replacement?
Hi everyone, I own a 2002 Chevrolet Malibu with a 3.1L engine, and I've recently picked up the diagnostic code P1361. The OBD-II manual indicates this code stands for 'Ignition Control Circuit Voltage Low (Distributor Ignition)'. I've already performed a tune-up on the vehicle — replacing both spark plugs and spark plug wires. I set the gap to 60mm, ensured proper installation, and conducted a road test. The car runs smoothly with strong performance. However, despite these efforts, the P1361 code persists. Given that the spark plugs are functioning correctly (no misfires observed), what could be causing this issue? Is it likely related to the ignition module or coil pack? I'd appreciate any insights on which component might be faulty based on this specific fault code. Thank you in advance! Best regards, Bigger
This is a fairly broad question — it's not that simple. Have you made any actual component changes? Does the vehicle start and run normally? The ignition module could be a potential culprit.
