2001 Lexus RX300 AWD OBD2 Code 1135: What Does It Mean and How to Fix?

Model: Lexus Fault Code: P1135 Posted: 2007-08-18 20:38

Hi everyone, I'm preparing for a road trip in my 2001 Lexus RX30-0 AWD, but the 'Check Engine' and 'VSC' lights have come on. My OBD2 scanner shows code 1135. After researching, I believe this refers to a heater circuit fault in the oxygen (O2) sensor for Bank One, Sensor One. I tried running STP fuel cleaner through the system and disconnected the battery for a week—however, the warning lights returned. Is this likely a faulty O2 sensor? They can be quite expensive. How do I know which one is bad, and how can I confirm it's the correct sensor? There’s an O2 sensor located on the manifold in front of the engine—does that match Bank One Sensor One? Will driving the car cause any damage or performance issues? Thanks for your help! Dennis PS: Mileage is 62,000 miles, automatic transmission. The vehicle runs smoothly with no misfires or roughness.

OBD2 Code 1135 indicates a heater circuit fault in the oxygen sensor for Bank One, Sensor One. This is a common issue and typically resolves after replacing the O2 sensor. Bank One refers to the side of the engine where cylinder one is located. Sensor One is the front oxygen sensor on that bank. You may not experience significant drivability problems, but it's recommended to repair this as soon as possible for optimal engine performance and emissions compliance. Good luck with your fix!
