P0157 and CHECK VSC Warning on 2007 Lexus ES350: Diagnosing O2 Sensor & Vehicle Stability Issues

Model: LEXUS ES350 Fault Code: P0157 Posted: 2019-02-28 14:48

I own a 2007 Lexus ES350 and am experiencing persistent engine issues. The check engine light is illuminated, along with a 'CHECK VSC' message on the dashboard. When driving, the engine produces a loud, unpleasant noise that makes the vehicle feel unstable. My code reader shows two primary codes: P0517 and possibly P0600 (I may have misremembered the second one). I recently purchased an O2 sensor from AutoZone based on their diagnostic tool recommendation, but it does not fit my vehicle. Can anyone confirm exactly which sensor is required for P0517? Where is this sensor located in a 2007 Lexus ES350? Additionally, what are the common causes of this code and how should I proceed with diagnosis?

P0157 refers to Bank 2 Sensor 2 - an Oxygen (O2) sensor. Is this the exact part recommended for your vehicle? Please verify the current error codes using a reliable scanner. For best results, consider visiting a professional auto shop for diagnosis unless you're experienced with DIY testing and tools.

The active diagnostic codes I'm currently seeing are P0517 and P0606 (corrected from original mention of P0606).

Regarding the Brake Pressure Sensor (BTS), it may be OEM-specific. It's recommended to verify availability through your Lexus dealer or an authorized online parts supplier. Common causes for P0517 include: - Short to power in the signal circuit of the BTS sensor - A failed BTS sensor - Rarely, a faulty Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Please address this code first and share the outcome for further troubleshooting.
