1999 Isuzu Amigo P0141, P0300, P0406, P1404, P1627 - Hesitation, Random Fuel Gauge Issues & Flashing Fuel Light

Model: isuzu amigo Fault Code: P0141 Posted: 2007-06-12 21:29

I own a 1999 Isuzu Amigo 2.2L 4-cylinder engine. The vehicle is showing multiple diagnostic trouble codes: P0141 (O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction), P0300 (Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire), P0404 (Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Issue), P1404 (EGR Valve Control Circuit Fault), and P1627 (Fuel System Pressure Regulator Issue). Symptoms include intermittent hesitation during takeoff, random fuel gauge readings (showing empty, full, or intermediate levels), and occasional flashing of the fuel light. The hesitation on takeoff is particularly concerning. I've checked basic maintenance like spark plugs and ignition components, but no clear root cause has been identified. Can anyone provide insight into what might be causing these issues? Any known fixes or common solutions for this specific combination of codes in a 1999 Isuzu Amigo? Thanks in advance for any help or advice!

The hesitation is likely related to an EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) system issue, assuming the engine is otherwise healthy and recent tune-up parts are intact. The erratic fuel gauge behavior may point to a faulty fuel pump or sending unit—common in GM-based vehicles. Additionally, low fuel pressure could be contributing to the hesitation. A proper fuel pressure test would help confirm this.

Would it be feasible for someone with minimal tools to diagnose and fix these issues? Also, I noticed that when the gas light flashes, the cooling fan activates and runs in high mode—does anyone know what could cause this behavior? Can it be repaired without professional help? Thanks for your input!

It depends on the individual's mechanical skill level and available tools. The fan activation during gas light flashing is an unusual symptom—I'm not familiar with that specific behavior, so it may point to a wiring or sensor issue.

I have a 2001 Isuzu Rodeo with the same symptoms—intermittent hesitation, erratic fuel gauge, and fans running in high mode continuously. I've tried various fixes but still can't resolve it. Any suggestions or known solutions for this combination of issues?

If multiple users are experiencing identical symptoms—including fan behavior—this might be a known issue covered by a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB). I'd recommend checking with the manufacturer or dealership to see if there's an official recall, repair procedure, or known fix for this specific combination of codes and symptoms.

What is a TSB? Can you explain it briefly?

A TSB stands for Technical Service Bulletin. It's a document issued by the vehicle manufacturer that outlines known issues, troubleshooting steps, or repair procedures for specific problems in certain models and years.
