P0507 Fault with Infiniti i35: High Idle RPM and Erratic RPM Drops

Model: Infiniti i35 Fault Code: P0507 Posted: 2016-01-21 16:45

I recently cleaned my throttle body using CRC Throttle Body Cleaner and reconnected all components. After the test drive, I'm now receiving Diagnostic Trouble Code P0507, indicating high idle RPM. Additionally, my engine RPMs are fluctuating erratically—dropping from around 2000 rpm to 1000 rpm, then rising back up to approximately 150

This symptom strongly suggests a vacuum leak. To diagnose, try the 'old school spray trick'—spray carburetor cleaner near potential vacuum lines to identify where the leak is occurring. The leak is likely located after the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor. Also, confirm if you're currently experiencing an idle of around 1100 RPM with P0507 present.

Thanks for the reply—yes, I'm now getting the P0507 code. Could you clarify what the 'old school spray trick' is? Specifically, should I spray between the MAF sensor and throttle body, or between the MAF and the air filter area?
