Hyundai Veloster 2015 P2191 Code: System Too Lean at Higher Load - Bank 1

Model: Hyundai Veloster Fault Code: P2191 Posted: 2020-07-18 11:10

My girlfriend drives a 2015 Hyundai Veloster (non-turbo) that otherwise runs smoothly and appears to be in excellent condition, maintaining around 33 mph. The check engine light has been on for an unknown period of time. She has already replaced the engine coil packs #1 and #2, the catalytic converter, and the oxygen sensor twice. A neighbor mechanic scanned the vehicle and identified fault code P2191: 'System too lean at higher load - Bank 1'. The only noticeable behavior I observe is that when she leaves a red light, there's a brief hesitation—her idle drops momentarily, then the engine shudders before stabilizing. This occurs intermittently. My question: Does this model have a Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)? Any additional insights or troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated.

P2191 - System too lean at higher load on Bank 1 may indicate an issue with fuel delivery, such as a clogged fuel filter, faulty fuel pump, or incorrect fuel pressure. The vehicle does have a Throttle Position Sensor (TPS). Please check for any additional diagnostic codes that might provide more context.

The pCV valve could be contributing to the lean condition; it's worth checking if it's stuck or malfunctioning, especially in older models like this Veloster.
