Hyundai Santa Fe 2008 2700cc Gasoline Engine Stalls with P2106, P1295, P0636, P1690, and P0685 Fault Codes

Model: Hyundai Santa Fe Fault Code: P0638 Posted: 2020-05-09 14:07

Dear Forum, I own a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe with a 2700cc gasoline engine. Suddenly, the vehicle stalled while driving and I was unable to restart it. Using an OBD-II scanner, I detected several fault codes: P2106, P1295, P0638, P1690, and P0685. A photo of the scan results is attached. I inspected the fuse box and found three blown fuses labeled 'sensor': one 10A and two 15A fuses. After replacing them, the fuses blew again immediately upon turning the ignition key on. This suggests a possible short circuit or electrical fault in the sensor system. I am seeking advice on how to diagnose and resolve this issue safely. Any insights into these specific codes or potential causes would be greatly appreciated. Kind regards, [User Name]

I have disconnected the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS), fuel injectors, fuel pump, fuel pump relay, gearbox wiring harness, purge control solenoid valve, and A/C relay — but the issue persists after all these checks.

When I connected the main relay or PCM, the fuses blew immediately. Additionally, the 4WD light began flashing. This problem started after I had the car repaired for engine oil leakage between the engine and gearbox. Upon returning the vehicle, I noticed radiator water leaking due to a crack in the upper radiator plastic body. After applying 'radiator stop leak' product, the car shut off within 15–20 minutes. This may indicate an electrical or coolant-related issue affecting system stability.

I measured voltage at fuse 26 (15A sensor #2 or #3) and found it reads battery voltage, indicating a proper power supply. The entire fuse box appears intact and shows no signs of damage or corrosion.
