PO171 Fault on Hyundai Santa Fe 2.4L - OBD-II Code Diagnosis and Repair

Model: HYUNDAI Santa FE Fault Code: P0171 Posted: 2010-09-15 12:32

Hi everyone, I'm experiencing OBD-II fault code PO171 on my Hyundai Santa Fe 2.4L engine. After replacing the cracked exhaust manifold and resetting the system, the MFL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) came back on. I've also replaced the downstream oxygen sensor and cleaned the mass air flow (MAF) sensor, but the issue persists. The code returns after approximately 35 kilometers of driving. Any suggestions or troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated? Paul 2310

Check for vacuum leaks or any sources of unmetered air entering the intake system, as well as verify fuel pressure levels. These are common causes of PO171 in Hyundai Santa Fe 2.4L engines.

Thanks for the advice! Do you have any recommendations on how to properly check fuel pressure on this model? Paul

The best way is to buy, borrow, or rent a dedicated fuel pressure gauge to accurately measure system pressure and compare it against manufacturer specifications.
