P1399 Fault Code on 2000 Honda Prelude - Solutions After EGR Valve Replacement and Cleaning

Model: honda prelude Fault Code: P1399 Posted: 2008-09-06 18:42

Hi, I own a 2000 Honda Prelude and am currently experiencing a P1399 diagnostic trouble code. I've already replaced the EGR valve and cleaned carbon buildup from the EGR valve and intake components. Additionally, I've checked and replaced the spark plugs, ignition wires, and catalytic converter. Despite these efforts, the P1399 code persists. What other troubleshooting steps should I take to resolve this issue?

Perform a compression test to rule out potential issues such as cracked valves or cylinder head problems. A misfire can stem from various sources—be sure to systematically inspect all components in the fuel system and ignition system.

How does your vehicle run? Does it exhibit a miss or hesitation around 1500 RPM? If yes, try disconnecting the vacuum line connected to the EGR valve and drive the car. If the misfire disappears, this suggests clogged EGR passages in the intake manifold.
