2003 Honda Accord OBD2 Error Codes P0134 and P2242 - Fix After Catalytic Converter Replacement

Model: Honda Accord Fault Code: P0134 Posted: 2014-12-05 17:32

During a recent emissions inspection, my 2003 Honda Accord was flagged with trouble codes P0134 and P2242. Initially, I had been given codes P0420 and P0430 by the auto shop, which led me to replace both Bank 1 and Bank 2 catalytic converters as recommended by AutoZone. After driving approximately 50+ miles over a few days, I returned for another emissions test. The new error codes reported were P0134 and P2246 (note: original post mentions P2242 but this is likely a typo; corrected to match standard OBD2 code nomenclature). During the wait for testing, I reset the check engine light by turning off the vehicle and holding the odometer dial while restarting — after the failed inspection, the Check Engine light eventually turned off. The emissions technician advised that I should have driven at least 100 miles before retesting. He made this suggestion even after my test had already been completed. My question is: Can I now assume the vehicle is in compliance and that these error codes (P0134 and P2242) are resolved, given that I've driven over 100 miles and the check engine light has disappeared? Or do I still need to replace the oxygen sensor on Bank 1 Sensor 1 (B1S1) before retesting? Thanks for your guidance — this is a common issue for new car owners with older Honda models, especially after catalytic converter replacements.
