Honda 2001 Prelude P0715 and P0700 Codes: Fix or Replace Transmission?
I'm experiencing both P0715 and P0700 diagnostic trouble codes on my 2001 Honda Prelude. I took it to a mechanic who replaced the transmission speed sensor, and after the work, the check engine light turned off. However, once I started driving it, both codes returned. The mechanic advised me not to spend more money and suggested buying a new transmission. I'm confused—since both P0715 (Input/Turbine Speed Sensor A Circuit Malfunction) and P0700 (Transmission Control System Malfunction) are present, did he perform the repair incorrectly? Or is a full transmission replacement truly necessary? I'm a female owner and would appreciate clear technical insights from experienced users or mechanics.
P0715 indicates a malfunction in the Input/Turbine Speed Sensor A circuit. This is often related to sensor wiring, connection issues, or faulty sensors—replacing it may resolve the issue, but only after proper diagnosis.
