2008 HHR P0010 Error Code: Is It Safe to Drive?

Model: HHR Fault Code: P0010 Posted: 2015-09-03 14:22

I'm planning a 800-mile trip and have been advised that my 2008 HHR is showing error code P0010. I want to know if it's safe to drive with this code or if it could cause engine damage during long-distance travel.

After reviewing several forum posts, I decided to start by replacing the intake solenoid. I found the part at O'Reilly's with part number #917-215, which costs $45.99 plus tax. I disconnected the negative battery cable and removed the air cleaner assembly. The solenoid was located on the passenger side and clearly labeled 'intake.' It came out easily after popping it off. The entire process took about 20 minutes and was completed in my garage in Phoenix, during the hottest part of the day with temperatures reaching at least 130°F. After replacement, the car started up normally and no longer shows the P0010 error code. I'm hopeful this fix will last. Thanks for the helpful guidance.
