P171 and P1762 OBD Codes on 2001 Grand Cherokee 4.0 LPG Conversion - Gearbox Stuck in Limp Mode

Model: Grand Cherokee Fault Code: P1762 Posted: 2005-10-21 13:06

Hello everyone, I'm seeking help with a persistent issue on my 2001 Grand Cherokee 4.0L after converting it to LPG fuel. Since the conversion, I've been experiencing repeated problems with the OBD light staying constantly illuminated and displaying two specific diagnostic codes: - P171: System Too Lean (Bank 1) — Indicates an abnormally rich air/fuel mixture correction factor. - P1762: Governor Pressure Sensor Offset - Volts Too Low or High — Sensor input exceeds calibration thresholds during three consecutive Neutral/Park cycles (applicable only to 4-speed automatic transmission). The vehicle has been in and out of the garage over the past 6–8 weeks, with multiple components replaced—including the governor pressure solenoid and valve body. Despite these repairs, the issue persists: the gearbox either enters limp mode or fails to shift properly up or down. I'm looking for any insights or troubleshooting steps that might resolve this problem. Any experience with LPG conversions on 2001 Grand Cherokee models or related transmission issues would be greatly appreciated.
