My 2008 Volkswagen Golf GT DI has recently developed a fault code P0234-000, indicating 'Limit Exceeded (Over Boost Condition)'. The turbo appears to lose power when the engine reaches 2000+ RPMs. Turning the ignition off and on temporarily resolves the issue, but the Engine Management Light and 'Service Required' warning are now permanently illuminated. I have already cleaned the boost pressure sensor and inspected all associated hoses, ensuring they are free of debris and properly connected. Despite these efforts, the engine management light remains on. Given that the vehicle has approximately 97,000 miles and is around 10 months old, I'm wondering whether a turbocharger cleaning or internal component failure might be responsible. Any technical advice or troubleshooting steps for this specific P0234 fault in a Golf GT TDI would be greatly appreciated.
