P0335 and C0161 Fault Codes in 2011 GMC Yukon XL 5.3L - Diagnosis and Fix

Model: GMC Yukon XL 1500 Fault Code: C0161 Posted: 2018-10-28 06:52

I own a 2011 GMC Yukon XL with a 5.3L V8 engine. While refueling, after finishing, I attempted to start the vehicle but it struggled significantly and displayed a flashing message indicating 'Service Stability Trac System' and 'Service ABS System'. I managed to drive it home, but during the trip, the RPM gauge stopped working. After turning the vehicle off and back on, the RPM gauge resumed functioning normally. The onboard diagnostic system now shows fault codes P0335 and C0160. Has anyone experienced this issue before? If so, what steps or repairs have resolved it?

Begin troubleshooting with the P0335 code, which typically points to an issue with the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor or its circuit. Possible causes include: damaged CKP sensor connector, a damaged reluctor ring (missing teeth or failure to rotate due to sheared keyway), open or shorted sensor output (to ground or voltage), or a failed crankshaft position sensor. Additionally, timing belt failure or PCM malfunction could be contributing factors. For more details, refer to official P0335 diagnostic resources.
