OBD2 Code 1195 and Code 96 on 1990-1997 Ford Probe 2.5L V6: Troubleshooting Idle Issues

Model: Ford Probe Fault Code: P1195 Posted: 2009-06-06 08:55

We have replaced the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) three times, inspected all vacuum hoses and sensors thoroughly. When manually adjusting the idle using the idle stop screw or idle air bleed screw on the throttle body to resolve a PO510 code, we consistently trigger OBD2 Code 1195. The code appears either with or without the PO510, depending on the idle setting—indicating that simply correcting the TPS does not produce a stable idle sufficient for sustained engine operation. Notably, the vehicle runs smoothly and performs like a race car under normal conditions with no other symptoms. The fault codes only appear after a warm-up cycle, suggesting a temperature-dependent issue related to idle control.
