Ford F150 4.6L Engine Misfire: P0301 and P0316 Codes Explained

Model: Ford f150 Fault Code: P0301 Posted: 2019-06-12 19:17

My Ford F150 with a 4.6L engine is experiencing a shaking idle when starting, and the vibration persists between 1000-1500 RPM. The shake disappears above 2000 RPM but returns if the engine drops below 1500 RPM. I've already replaced all eight spark plugs and the coil pack for cylinder 1, yet the issue persists. Some friends suspect a mechanical problem with the engine. What other diagnostics or repairs should I consider? The fault codes P0301 (cylinder 1 misfire) and P0316 (initial start failure) are present.

Are there any additional diagnostic trouble codes? A misfire can stem from ignition, fuel delivery, or mechanical issues. Note: Cylinder 1 is on the driver's side (R-side). Try adding a bottle of injector cleaner like Seafoam; if that doesn't resolve it, perform a compression test to rule out internal engine problems.

I've confirmed that cylinder 1's fuel injector is not receiving power. I'm now checking the wiring harness and connector for the injector—this appears to be the root cause based on the P0301 and P0316 codes.
