2000 Ford F-15-0 P1309 Code Not Clearing After Cam Position Sensor Sync Fix
I own a 2000 Ford F-150 with a 4.2L V6 engine, currently at around 106,000 miles. After a recent engine rebuild, the vehicle began throwing fault code P1309. I investigated this using online resources and discovered that the cam positioning sensor should be checked for proper synchronization. I purchased a sync tool and confirmed the sensor was out of phase. Once synchronized, the truck idles more smoothly, has improved responsiveness, and fuel efficiency increased from 14 to 16.5 MPG. However, the P1309 code persists. What other potential causes could be responsible for this ongoing issue? Are there specific diagnostic steps I should follow beyond sensor synchronization?
