2009 Ford Escape Limited 2.5 AWD U0253 Code: Airbag & ABS Lights On After Multiple Repairs
Hi, I have a 2009 Ford Escape Limited 2.5L AWD. The vehicle has a history of damage and repair — it was involved in a collision, resulting in airbag deployment. Components were replaced, and the SRS module was reset. However, the airbag warning light (code U3000) remains on. After multiple attempts to resolve this, I had the car diagnosed by Ford service. The current issue includes: - Persistent airbag warning light (U30 or U3000) - Intermittent ABS and traction control lights - Diagnostic code U0253 detected I've taken the vehicle to Ford three times: 1. First, they replaced the RCM (Receiver Control Module) due to an internal fault — no improvement. 2. Then, they identified a faulty APIM (Airbag Power Interface Module), which was replaced. They claimed it could be updated but still failed to communicate with the RCM (911 Assist system). 3. A 2-hour call with Ford technical support was conducted, and they are now awaiting a response from Ford Engineering. I’ve asked if a wiring harness issue might be responsible — but Ford has stated that their diagnostic systems show no faults. The harness was repaired after the accident, and all wires have been tested and confirmed as functional. Ford is currently stumped and has not provided a definitive resolution. I’m growing increasingly frustrated with this ongoing issue. Any insights or suggestions from experienced owners or technicians would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
