2015 F150 V8 Oxygen Sensor Codes P0136, P0156, P1131, P1151 - Lean Mix & Stalling at Idle

Model: F150 V8 Fault Code: P0136 Posted: 2014-06-12 16:21

While driving to work one morning, my F150 V8 truck exhibited a rough idle and misfired, as if it had a fuel delivery issue. After arriving at work, I connected a OBD2 scanner and found the following diagnostic trouble codes: P0136 (O2 sensor circuit bank 1 sensor 2), P0156 (O2 sensor circuit bank 2 sensor 2), P1131 (lack of H02S11 switch indicating lean condition), and P1151 (lack of H02S21 switch indicating lean condition). These codes suggest a consistent lean fuel mixture across both engine banks. Additionally, the truck is currently stalling at idle approximately 50% of the time—this issue resolves when I shift into neutral and give it throttle. I'm concerned that all oxygen sensors are failing simultaneously. Is this possible? Should I replace all O2 sensors immediately, or could there be another underlying cause such as a vacuum leak or fuel system issue? Any insights on how to diagnose and resolve these codes in a 2015 F150 V8 would be greatly appreciated.

The presence of multiple lean-related codes across both banks suggests a potential vacuum leak or weak fuel pressure. Check for air leaks in the intake system and ensure fuel delivery is consistent.

P0136 refers to an O2 sensor circuit fault on bank 1, sensor 2—this could indicate a wiring issue or faulty sensor, but often correlates with overall lean conditions.

P0156 indicates a problem with the O2 sensor on bank 2, sensor 2. P1131 and P1151 point to lack of feedback from H02S11 and H02S21 sensors, both indicating lean fuel mixtures in their respective banks. These codes are strongly linked to a lean condition, likely due to an air leak or insufficient fuel pressure.

I own a 2001 F150 4x4 V8 and have encountered the same set of codes: P0136, P0156, P1131, P1151. All point to lean fuel mixtures in both engine banks. I suspect a vacuum leak as the root cause, though I'm open to other possibilities. I also see P0171 and P0174—these further support a lean condition. Any additional input on diagnosing this issue would be helpful.
