P0441 Fault Code in 2007 Dodge 1500 Truck - Recurring Issue and Strange Engine Noise

Model: Dodge 2007 1500 Truck Fault Code: P0441 Posted: 2014-12-30 09:54

I own a 2007 Dodge 1500 with a 4.7L engine. I recently received the P0441 diagnostic trouble code, which indicates a malfunction in the evaporative emission control system purge flow. I replaced the purge valve as recommended, but after one month, the same P0441 code returned. The mechanic performed a complete system clean and reset the check engine light. For about three weeks, the warning light has not reappeared—however, now my truck emits a loud, airplane-like sound when idling, which I suspect is due to a vacuum leak. Given that this issue persists despite repairs, what should be my first troubleshooting steps? Is it possible the problem lies in wiring or sensor malfunctions rather than just the purge valve?

Try unplugging the purge valve to test if engine performance improves—this can help determine whether a wiring issue is causing unintended opening of the valve when it should be closed.

Thanks for the response—it's helpful to know what to try next.

Same issue on a 2007 Dodge 1500 with a 4.7L engine. I reset the gas cap recently, but P0441A code persists. The problem first appeared about two months ago and has returned within the last three days.
