Chrysler Town & Country P1745 Code: Transmission Won't Shift Out of 1st Gear

Model: Chrysler Town & Country Fault Code: P1745 Posted: 2019-03-16 14:00

I have a 2009 Chrysler Town & Country with a 3.8L 62TE transmission. While driving, after stopping at a traffic light and accelerating when the light turned green, my engine light came on. I stopped and turned the vehicle off. When I restarted it and attempted to shift into gear, the van would not move out of first gear. After connecting a diagnostic scanner, code P1745 appeared. I replaced the line pressure sensor, but the shifting issue persists. The problem seems related to transmission control, as P1740 is associated with line pressure faults. I've done some research, but found limited information on this specific fault in older Chrysler models. Any insight into what might be causing this would be greatly appreciated.

The P1745 code indicates a line pressure issue detected by the transmission control module (TCM). Some diagnostic scanners, especially basic ones like AutoZone's, may not access deeper TCM fault codes or real-time line pressure data. This code often points to problems with the line pressure sensor, solenoid valves, or internal transmission issues. A professional-grade scanner capable of reading TCM-level diagnostics is recommended for accurate diagnosis.

I used an AutoZone scanner to retrieve the code — it only showed P1745 and did not provide deeper transmission module data or line pressure readings. This may explain why the issue wasn't immediately clear after sensor replacement.

Not all diagnostic scanners are equally capable, especially when dealing with complex transmission codes like P1745. For accurate diagnosis and repair of this code in a 2009 Chrysler Town & Country, a professional-grade scanner from an authorized Chrysler dealer is the best option to access full TCM data and interpret the fault properly.
