02 Chrysler Town & Country P0106 Code Reappears After MAP Sensor Replacement

Model: Chrysler Town & Country Fault Code: P0106 Posted: 2015-02-10 10:20

I have replaced the Mass Airflow (MAP) sensor on my 2002 Chrysler Town & Country and reset the engine control module (ECM). The vehicle will crank and run normally until I shut it off. However, when attempting to restart, it runs for only a second before shutting down and the P0106 code returns. Each time I reset the ECM, the same behavior repeats: it starts and runs briefly before stalling. I have already checked the wiring harness and found no visible damage. Aside from a faulty ECM, what other components or issues could be causing this recurring P0106 fault? The engine is a 3.8L V6.

A diagnostic code like P0106 does not mean the MAP sensor needs replacement. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is detecting incorrect signals from the sensor. Please verify that the wiring to the MAP sensor has a proper 5V reference voltage and check the signal return voltage. Ensure the ground connection is solid. Knowing your engine type—specifically, a 3.8L—is helpful for accurate troubleshooting. Additionally, performing a full scan may reveal other related or hidden fault codes.

I'm not very experienced with using a multimeter. My vehicle has a 3.8L engine.
