Chryl 02-300M SPC P0171 and P0132 Fault Code Diagnosis

Model: Chry 02-300M SPC Fault Code: P0171 Posted: 2008-01-04 19:48

I'm experiencing a recurring P0171 code on my 2002 Chevrolet 300M SPC, which keeps resetting. I recently replaced the O2 sensor, but now I'm getting a new code: P0132. Can anyone provide guidance on what might be causing this issue or suggest further troubleshooting steps?

The O2 sensor was likely not the root cause of the P0171 code. I suspect you may not have used a dealer-grade part, and you might not have checked for Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) related to updated PCM software. In many cases, a faulty EGR system is responsible for P0171.

What does 'TSB' mean in this context? I didn't understand the reference to revised PCM software. I recently visited the dealer and was given four new O2 sensors—two upstream and two downstream—and they also mentioned my MAP sensor was dirty. I've now replaced the MAP sensor with a new dealer-part unit.

are unsure what tsb stands for? or what updated software means for the pcm? Can I have your old 02 sensors?

After further investigation, I found that the issue was related to the O2 sensor. The PCM needed to be relearned—this involved clearing the fault code and then disconnecting the battery for a few minutes. After this reset, the system is now functioning properly.
