P0306 Fault on 1990s Chevrolet S10: How to Clear the Code After Replacing All Components

Model: chevy s10 Fault Code: P0306 Posted: 2014-03-13 09:03

I'm unable to clear the P0306 diagnostic trouble code (DTC) on my 1990s Chevrolet S10. I've already replaced the spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, fuel injector, and coil pack. Compression tests show normal readings, fuel pressure is within specifications, and the catalytic converter appears intact with no unusual exhaust odor. Despite these efforts, the P0306 code persists. I'm wondering if there's any overlooked step or component that could be causing this issue. The vehicle has no other diagnostic codes present and remains stock in configuration. Could it be related to fuel delivery timing, sensor readings, or a wiring issue? Any guidance on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry for the lack of direct answers—more questions than solutions. Could you please confirm the exact year and engine size (e.g., 4.3L)? What brand of spark plugs did you install—AC Delco or another type? Was the fuel injector replaced, or just swapped with a different cylinder's injector? Is your vehicle stock without modifications? Compression and fuel pressure readings are helpful—but please specify the exact PSI values for both tests. Also, is there a no-idle light flashing, steady, or not at all? Does your OBD2 scanner support manufacturer-specific codes like freeze frame data and live sensor readings? These details can significantly narrow down potential causes.
