Chevy Equinox 2013. Po011 and p0420 but then

P0010 and p0011 relate to the vvt system. P0420 cat efficiency. Oil condition and viscosity and proper level is critical. Check oil condition and proper level. Why did you change cam position sensor? These codes relate to the intake vvt solenoid either oil condition or level or faulty solenoid or wiring or seized camshaft phaser in advanced position. Could check power and ground at solenoid and check connector if tight and no corrosion. Need lab scope and good scan tool to check computer control Could replace if high miles recommend replacing both intake and exhaust but don't need too. They are easy to replace. Also when remove check if screens are dirty. Can clean with carb cleaner and replace see if problem goes away. Could Check resistance but have had resistance check good but faulty solenoid. Can also run battery positive to one terminal and battery ground to other terminal with jumpers and see if pintle moves when energized. They cost depending on quality anywhere from 50 to 100 dollars. You have 2 vvt solenoids one for intake and one for exhaust intake Grey collar and exhaust is black collar intake front of engine exhaust in back. People think color means something it doesn't if you get a aftermarket one colors not same as oe one. You could switch the intake and exhaust one clear codes and run and see if codes switch to the exhaust one different codes. Check oil and then the screens if dirty on intake vvt solenoid first. The p0420 can cause hard start stall low power if cat is restricted. Cat code can be caused from exhaust leak or restricted cat. Damaged cat caused by running vehicle with misfire or rich condition for a period of time. I would focus on the 2 first codes. Did the p0420 code just trip or been there? Now I have ran my car and the code po7BF/$07E is coming up and I get no other information from my scan tool. What does this mean?? Help !! UGH!!

That makes sense limp mode p0700 means codes stored in the tcm transmission control module. Then code p07bf input speed sensor fault. Limp mode rpms will be limited to around 3000. To replace you have to tear apart tranny to get access too. Does your scan tool have tcm data pids?

P0011 would not cause home limp mode. The transmission code would. I should have caught that in your initial post with p0700.

Well autojoe this is what Chevy says the code means so which one do I look at first: the vct solenoid or the speed sensor P07BF Chevrolet Auto Trouble Code. P07BF Chevrolet the main thing to check is to verify the operation of the VCT solenoid. You're looking for a sticking or stuck VCt solenoid valve caused by contamination. The limp mode is from the tranny code. I have never seen limp mode from a faulty vvt solenoid. Clear codes run see which trigger first. Your pcm flagged several codes. My question is did they all happen all at once. Did any codes trigger in the past? It's highly unlikely that cat code vvt code tranny code would go bad all at same time. Without testing with proper equipment just guessing.When in limp mode can you go above 3000 rpm? You have several problems.... Cat code vvt code tranny code. Tranny code you have to drain and tear apart to replace. I don't know what to tell you. Pay a ase certified shop diagnostic fee. They have good scan tool plus lab scope and knowledge to properly diagnose.I think your drive ability problem limp mode has to do with your tranny.

I changed the oil and filter which was very dirty I had put the Clea er in the oil so I figured that it would look like that. Took her for a drive and she seemed to be running all good again. The transmission was changing gears there was no problem starting I thought all was good. Then when I went to go somewhere later it only took a mile for the car to jerk and back into limp mode it went again this time even worse Than before and all the codes came up but top of the list was po7bf poo10 po011 po420 and po700. I can't afford to take it to a shop I am on social security and barely can pay the bills with the money I get. So she is going to have to sit in my yard as a art sculpture or sell her to the wrecking yard and hope for more than a few hundred dollars. I thank you though for all the wisdom that you shared with me. I just wish that I would have known what a lemon these equinox are before I bought her. That's on me for not doing enough research that will never happen again.

I know lots of people with Chevy equinox. Grated had several problems but most do now days. Did all these codes set together and one day driving bucking and light came on? Need to know some history. Any other codes in the past? Work history? Please let me know. Thanks Joe

I had been driving from eastern Washington to western theu the Cascades when the problem started. I didn't have a Check Engine Light only thing was I knew at the time I needed an oil change. Had been going thru the oil. Burning it none on ground in driveway. Just didn't know where it was coming from. Anyway I was prob 25 miles short of my destination in tacoma when when the nox jumped. It felt like I hit a brick wall and them kept going. I wasn't sure what had happened. All I knew was that I was still on the mountain and had to get home. So I checked the oil added about half a quart to bring up level put my hazard lights on and cruised at 30 mph the rest of the way. But was smart enough to stop at my closest friends house. And there I have been for the last 6 weeks. When I was able to put the code reader on the first time it gave me po011 po420 then next time I put the reader on it gave me the p0011 p0420 p0010 and po700 and then after I thought with the scan reader clearing the codes I got the code po7bf. But now after another oil change and cleaner going thru the system I am popping all of the codes again. I am discouraged as heck with this car. I have only had the car for just a year. It had run great then this LA set trip I think is going to be her last. Thanks again for your assist. I'm sorry to hear about all of your trouble. The oil burning probably contaminated the cat. You have a engine burning oil problem. Then the other problems with vvt and tranny code. There are cleaners can run through to clean cat. As far as the engine burning oil is a major problem. Not counting the tranny and vvt codes. Would have to test tranny and vvt code to see if there is a genuine problem with them. I have seen codes trip where one triggers another based on the way vehicle runs. Testing would have to be done. Could put another used engine in it based on condition of body and tranny especially with tranny code and mileage. So many issues. I wish you the best of luck. I wish I could have helped you.
