Car Won't Drive in Forward Gears Only Works in Reverse - P0732 Gear Ratio Error (2020 Toyota Camry)
My vehicle has suddenly developed a transmission issue. Previously, it would only allow me to drive at around 10 mph before slipping and requiring an engine off/on cycle to resume operation. On the same day, I noticed that the car no longer responded in reverse. After flushing the transmission fluid and installing a new filter, the problem persisted. I then replaced both input and output speed sensors along with their connectors—no improvement. The car now operates in reverse but fails to move in any forward gear. A P0732 code (Gear 2 Incorrect Ratio) continues to appear on my scan tool. No other transmission-related fault codes are present. I have confirmed that the correct transmission fluid (ATF4) was used during the flush, and I am using a proper OBD2 scanner for diagnostics. Despite these efforts, the issue remains unresolved. Any insight into potential causes or next steps would be greatly appreciated.
Please specify your vehicle's year, make, model, and engine type. If you know the transmission model, that would be helpful. Are there any additional diagnostic codes or symptoms? BE SURE TO SCAN THE TRANSMISSION USING A PROPER OBD2 SCANNER—DO NOT RELY ON KEY ON/OFF CYCLES. Do you currently have access to a scanner? PS: Confirm that the correct transmission fluid (ATF4) was used during the flush, as some vehicles require specific fluids and not universal types.
