2001 Dodge Stratus R/T Won't Start with P0335 and P0455 Codes - No Click, Only Fuel Pump Sound

Model: Car Fault Code: P0335 Posted: 2010-11-12 20:08

My 2001 Dodge Stratus R/T with a 3.0L Mitsubishi V6 engine and 5-speed manual transmission was running fine until I went into the store. When I returned, the car would not start — no click from the starter, only the sound of the fuel pump activating. The clutch switch is functioning properly. I managed to jump-start it and drove home without issues. The next day, I scanned the vehicle and found two diagnostic trouble codes: P0455 and P033

Which engine model? The Stratus and Sebring models are known to have frequent issues with crankshaft position sensors and distributor problems.

It's the Mitsubishi 3.0-liter V6 engine.

If you have a digital voltmeter, check the voltage drop across the crankshaft position sensor using DC volts. A low reading may indicate a faulty sensor or poor connection. As a practical first step, consider replacing the crankshaft position sensor — this is a common fix for P0335-related starting issues in 2001 Dodge Stratus R/T models. Good luck!
