Model: Aveo Fault Code: P0700 Posted: 2019-03-14 00:49

Hello, I own a 2009 Chevrolet Aveo hatchback with a 1.6L engine. I recently replaced the used automatic transmission, but I'm still receiving diagnostic trouble codes P0700 and P0705. Any advice or troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated.

DTC P0700 indicates a general transmission control issue, with P0705 specifically pointing to a 'Transmission Range Switch Circuit Malfunction (No Signal)'. The key term here is 'CIRCUIT' — this suggests an electrical fault. Please inspect the connector and wiring for the position sensor (range switch) to ensure proper connection and integrity.

As mentioned, the issue appears to be a circuit-related problem — either a faulty range sensor connector or damaged wiring. A digital voltmeter (DVOM) would be helpful for performing voltage checks at the sensor and related circuits. Could you clarify why you replaced the transmission? This may impact diagnosis and repair strategy.
