1999 Pontiac Trans Am P0410, P0412, P0418 Fault Diagnosis and Fix
My Check Engine light has recently come on, and I'm now receiving persistent fault codes P0410, P0412, and P0418. I've cleared the codes using an OBD2 scanner, but they reappear within a few minutes of driving. What could be causing these codes? Are there any known fixes or diagnostic steps for this combination on a 1999 Pontiac Trans Am? Any insights or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
I experienced the same P0410, P0412, and P0418 codes on my 2001 Pontiac Trans Am WS6. The root cause was that I had removed the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system and the air pump during a long-tube header installation. During tuning, the EGR system wasn't reconnected properly. After reinstalling the air pump, reconnecting all associated hoses, and restoring the EGR tubes, I reset the engine control module and the codes have not returned since. If you've modified your exhaust or removed components like the EGR or air pump, it's recommended to restore those parts for proper system function.
