1999 Jeep Intrepid P0700, P0715, P0730 Fault Codes - Transmission Won't Shift Out of Park

Model: 99 Intrepid Fault Code: P0700 Posted: 2011-03-17 02:48

I have replaced both the input and output speed sensors on my 1999 Jeep Intrepid, but the transmission still won't shift out of park. All gear indicators (P, R, N, D, 1, 2, 3) remain lit. The vehicle shows no shifting behavior beyond park, and I'm seeing diagnostic trouble codes P0700, P0715, and P0730. Despite the sensor replacements, the transmission remains stuck in park with no gear engagement. I suspect a communication issue between the Transmission Control Module (TCM) and the vehicle's electronic systems.

Check the TCM relay and circuit connections — faulty wiring or a bad relay can prevent proper TCM operation, leading to transmission failure to shift.

Ensure the neutral safety switch and brake light switch are functioning properly. A defective either of these components can prevent gear engagement, especially when trying to shift out of park.

I believe the vehicle is in limp mode, which defaults it to second gear and reverse only. If the car comes out of park successfully, that indicates the interlock circuit is working. However, if all PRNDL lights stay on, it suggests a communication failure between the TCM and the transmission control system.

The issue was resolved after replacing the TCM and verifying wiring connections. The car now shifts properly.
